About Dilu
When can we get Dilu?
Dilu: English for Kids is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play, for families in Sri Lanka first. Email us at dilu@prabhavalabs.com and we'll tell you when it's ready.
What age is it for?
Children aged 5 to 8. It is not designed for children under 4.
Does my child need to read?
No. Dilu speaks every instruction, and children answer by tapping pictures, moving and speaking. The text on screen is there for parents reading along.
Which languages does Dilu speak?
Sinhala, Tamil or English. You choose when you set up the app, and you can change it later in the parent corner. What your child learns is always English: the English words are said by clear English voices.
How long will my child play each day?
By default, two short lessons a day, of 3 to 5 minutes each. Then Dilu says goodbye, gives an off-screen task, and play stops until tomorrow, even if the app is opened again. You can change the daily limit in the parent corner.
Which phones and tablets does it work on?
Android phones, iPhones and iPads. It may run on Android tablets, but it is not designed for them yet.
Safety and privacy
Do you collect my child's data?
No. The first version has no account and collects no personal data. Your child's nickname, picture, age group and progress are saved only on your phone. We cannot see them. Read the privacy policy.
What does the microphone do?
In "Say it with Dilu", your child says a word out loud. The phone checks only that your child spoke, and then Dilu praises the try. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent. The app asks for the microphone during parent setup, and works fully if you say no.
Are there ads, or anything to pay for?
There are no ads, ever. Your family can start with lessons included in the app. The full course will be part of a simple family plan, and we'll share the details before it launches. Only a parent can turn a plan on, behind the parent gate, so your child can never buy anything.
Does it need the internet?
No. The lessons are inside the app, so once it is installed, your child can play without the internet.
Getting help
How do I delete my child's data?
Open the parent corner (behind the grown-up check) and choose to delete a child's data, or everything. Uninstalling the app also removes everything it saved.
How do I report a problem?
Email dilu@prabhavalabs.com with your phone model and what happened. A screenshot helps, but please make sure it shows no child's name or face.
